Leap Advisor is a peer mentoring network where individuals can serve as both an advisor and an advisee. We’ll match you with potential advisors who can provide guidance to your unique career questions as well as connect you with peers who can benefit from your experiences and insights.
Leap Advisor operates through tokens. You can earn tokens by setting up an account (100 tokens), providing advising sessions to others (100 tokens each time), or inviting friends to join the platform (50 tokens for each of your invited friends who join the platform). You use 100 tokens each time you request a mentorship session with others.
We believe in give and take and encourage everyone to contribute to the Leap community by earning tokens and seeking help to grow your career. Currently, you are not able to purchase tokens.
We try to match you within a few days based on available advisors/advisees. However, depending on your specific request, it might take longer for you to be matched. You’ll always be notified immediately once a match is made.
We use AI, NLP, and human intelligence to match you with the right advisors/advisees. The nature of your question plays a critical role in matching, so providing adequate context to your question definitely helps. We typically match someone who has 5 years or more experience than you in the area you are seeking help. We also consider other factors such as your work and industry experience, educational background, alma mater, domains of expertise, and advising preferences.
You have the option to meet your advisor/advisee in-person or complete the advising session via phone or a video call. We leave it up to you and your advisor/advisee to coordinate and decide what works best!
You were invited and signed up with Leap. The bonus message will be displayed on the sign-up screen. You will also receive a confirmation email with the bonus amount if you land a job with one of our partners through us.
You accept a full-time offer from a Leap partner company through Leap within 12 months.
You are eligible for a referral bonus if the invitee starts their new full-time job with a Leap partner through Leap within 12 months. When that happens, within 30 days after the full-time employment starting day, we will contact you for the bonus payment. Currently, we send out checks. We may later add other payment methods as well.
In this case, the Leap referral bonus will NOT be valid. When the invitee submits an application to the hiring company through multiple channels, only if Leap is recognized as the source of record by the hiring company will the inviter and invitee qualify for the referral bonus from Leap.
Leap considers your values, skills, strengths, location, company and job preferences, the requirements and culture of the hiring companies, and uses machine learning to identify the best matching companies for each user. After our AI system makes the matches, we also have human experts to review the matches before we notify you. You should receive an update on your matches within one business day after you complete your profile.
Based on your resume, our AI can identify potential matches within our system that might be a good fit for you. Preliminary matches will be reviewed and verified by a human expert first before becoming a Leap endorsed match that you can apply to. Once you apply to a Leap endorsed match, we send your resume along with an endorsement of why you’re a great fit directly to the hiring managers at our partner companies.
There are many reasons that we may not be able to find matches for you. The top three reasons for not having a match are that you: 1) have an incomplete profile; 2) are not in the countries we currently support; 3) are a new graduate without sufficient experience or success that stands out. You can always take action to strengthen your profile (e.g. get peer feedback, update skills, etc). We are also adding new partners every week. Lastly, every user (including the users who are outside the US) can use Leap Resume to build a powerful resume.
If you don’t like the matches you receive, please let us know. We get better with input from our users.
If you decide to apply, Leap will send your resume together with a Leap endorsement letter that highlights why we think you are a great fit for the job to the designated contacts at our partner companies. You enter their hiring flow. Regardless of the interview’s outcome, you will receive a response.
If you decide not to apply, we might ask you why. Your feedback helps us improve the quality of matches for you.
We send every application directly to our designated contact at our partner companies. They will ensure the application is properly reviewed and interviews are arranged if they decide to proceed. Even when they decide not to proceed, we get a clear and timely response.
Direct referral is similar to internal referral. For all the referrals, the effectiveness depends on the credibility of the referral source. A senior person who knows you well is the most effective referral source, but if you don’t have such a source, Leap will likely be able to help your application more than other referral sources. Our partners work with Leap due to their confidence in our ability to assess candidates.
Your profile is private. Employers do not see any information about you until you apply to a job. After your application, we will send your resume and a Leap endorsement letter to the employers. The endorsement letter summarizes key information provided by you and your peers that help to strengthen your application.
Your strengths will be fed into our machine learning model to identify companies that are likely to make the best use of your strengths. In addition, these strengths are shared as a part of your Leap endorsed letter when applying to a job.
It is not required but is STRONGLY recommended. Self-reported strengths are more impactful when validated by others. Feedback from your friends makes your case stronger to recruiters and hiring managers, presenting a more powerful and complete picture of who you are.
Recruiters only have 10 seconds to filter a resume. Based on our interviews with hundreds of recruiters, the winning strategy for a resume is to make it easy for recruiters to access key information on your resume. Leap Resume makes formatting easy using a template best suited for tech hiring.
Yes! Leap Resume has a built-in collaborative feature that allows you to invite others to review and provide feedback/comments on your resume. Simply click on the “Comments” button in the top right corner of your Leap Resume and invite one or multiple reviewers.
LinkedIn only exposes very limited information, including basic information on the current employment, to 3rd party developers even if a user logs in through LinkedIn login. We understand this is a source of confusion and frustration, but this is completely controlled by LinkedIn.
